Yes--Assange was tortured and imprisoned for the "crime" of embarrassing the powerful. They're finally releasing him after they made an example of him to intimidate other people of conscience and conviction.

Those in the government who persecuted Assange should be ashamed of themselves, but it seems they are incapable of shame.

Thanks for reminding us to fight, Matt.

Thanks, Matt. The Empire is flailing, but for now good news. Embrace it. It's in short supply.

Great summary of this abominal situation, Matt. A victory is ending brutality that should never have started. The empire is in full sway for now. But "a dying mule kicks hardest."

Great respect to sheroes and heroes like Julian Assange, Reality Winner, and Chelsea Manning. Carry on, freedom fighters!

You're right--the empire is dying and raging and it doesn't understand why. It can torture a man and his family for years for the crime of journalism, it can mass murder civilians guilty of the crime of being Palestinian, it can provide arms to madmen who wear swastikas who later sell them on the black market... But the empire just can't understand what it's doing is morally and ethically wrong and plain evil. But for now we can celebrate a small victory for the real good guys--that's us, the people. Power to the People!
