Thank you for this Matthew! You and I definitely see eye to eye on this topic. I simply don’t and can’t understand how our government has become so corrupt with no morals or restraint. The bubble most of our representatives live in is so small, they know not what they do to the average American, much less the military that serves us. Shame on them. They will be judged accordingly at some point. None of us are perfect, but striving to do right just simply doesn’t seem to be in their DNA.
I think we need to start cutting “ravenous dogs” some slack, Matthew. This Military Industrial Congressional Complex is completely composed of jackals, and I say completely because the Yea votes could easily slide into the Nay column with the next appropriation, campaign donation, or shift of the winds of war.
Ha, yes, you are correct Gene! I am unfairly disparaging ravenous dogs. I will make a note to my essay acknowledging this slight.
And very much so. I’ll wager that if the WH has a different occupant two years from now you’ll see plenty of Democrats co-sponsoring the same amendment then.
As you know, Matt, the Pentagon itself has failed five audits in a row. Five!
If we can't track the gusher of money at the Pentagon, how are we going to track it in Ukraine?
At least Congress is consistent. When it comes to weapons and war, no audits are required.
As a Gunny I knew in the Marine Corps used to say Bill: they are riding the gravy train with biscuit wheels!

Unfortunately I think you are right Robin, I think many of our leaders are sociopaths.
Is Bernie too dumb, or is he in on it?
Next time we talk remind me to tell you something re: a response from that office.

And GOP opposition that this week was supportive.
Oh yeah. It's all the same party.
"Death as a business model." Thanks for publishing this, Matthew.
Thank you Henrik
Thank you for making this available to us. Military spending and the Senate's behavior are scandalous.
Thanks Eleanor
If you or I had a "$6 billion" accounting error on our taxes, you can bet we wouldn't get it waived off casually by the Senate. War is truly a racket.
Haha, not at all. We can’t even get healthcare from those people.
